Treating For Termites In Your Home

Filed under: Home Improvement — Tags: — admin @ 9:37 pm

Some of the more common methods of treating for termites include the use of termite shields, termite sprays, tubes, poisons and bait stations. While these all have proven to be effective to some degree, not all are designed to totally eliminate the problem of termites. While some termite issues require simple treatments, other problems require that major steps be taken in order to prevent termites from causing major damage to your home.

Boric acid is one effective method and is generally painted on to the drywall of your home. Bait traps are also effective and are designed to kill off the termites and the nests by luring them to the poison contained in the bait trap. Termite tubes are created by the termites themselves, but you can kill these off by simply removing them and by placing a substance such as boric acid or orange oil in the area where the tube was found.

A termite shield is also a common method, and provides a complete barrier between the drywood of your home and the termites. This is a more expensive method, but is very popular because it has proven to be effective.

It is important to do your research in order to determine which method of treating for termites is right for you. This is essential if you live in an area where termites are common and is the best way to protect your home for major damage.
