Jewelry’s played a critical cultural role, pretty much since the dawn of humanity. You can see it all throughout the written records. So it’s sort of an innate thing, people’s draw to jewelry and accessories. We’re constantly judging each other by our choices with regards to what we decorate ourselves with, what jewels we select, what sorts of necklaces we choose to wear. There are certain things that we really don’t even consider when we wear these things, but that are still in play. Sort of like the natural senses and laws of attraction that are at play, except that jewelry, in its modern form in society, has always had this capitalist bend to it. The more you can afford, the more sophisticated the jewelry you’re able to display on yourself. From the stones that are used in the jewelry itself to the metals and other precious stones that are utilized to create the pieces.
